Zoo-Goers Head For Open Waters

Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium

The Sobela Aquarium at the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium is having its grand opening this morning!

  • New Attractions: The Aquarium, which was a large enough addition to make the zoo want to change its name to the “Zoo & Aquarium” adds over 400 species and 10,000 animals.

  • Appointment Only: For those hoping to visit on opening day, you may want to see if you can still make a reservation. While aquarium access is included with the price of admission with to the Zoo, entrance is currently by reservation only.

  • Food And Drink: Zoo-goers will be able to explore from warm-water shores through mangroves, tropical lagoons, and coral reefs, ascending to a cold-water rocky shore. Each habitat teems with diverse ocean life, providing an immersive experience of the ocean's wonders.

Arrowhead Sets Another Record

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are setting the stage for an epic kickoff to the 2023 season with the “World’s Largest Tailgate” presented by Bud Light.

  • Live From KC: The event will feature appearances by entertainers like "Saturday Night Live" star Heidi Gardner, internet personality Tabitha Swatosh, and Donna Kelce, mother to Chiefs' star Travis Kelce.

  • Concerts and more: YouTube sensations the Merrell Twins will host the 90-minute show, and DJ-producer duo Two Friends will perform alongside a surprise entourage of Chiefs legends.

  • Global Reach: Chiefs President Mark Donovan emphasized the event’s role in uniting fans globally, highlighting that Chiefs Kingdom extends beyond KC’s borders.

Virtual seats to the event can be secured online, while the tailgate itself will be hosted from the Ford Tailgate District outside GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium starting at 4:30 pm.

KC Renaissance Festival

The KC Renaissance Festival returns to Bonner Springs for another 6-weekend stint, rain or shine, starting at 7 pm this weekend.

  • A Historic Affair: Founded in 1977 as a way to raise money for the Kansas City Art Institute, the KC Renaissance Festival has grown to be one of the largest in the country with over 200,00 visitors annually.

  • Fun For All Knights: Boasting merriment and wonder, the fest features 3 jousts a day alongside other medieval entertainment such as juggling from the court jester, theatrical performances from the realm, and all the turkey legs you can eat.

  • Theme Weekends: Each weekend will feature a theme that will add to the experience. This weekend’s theme is a nautical-themed Swashbucklers and Sirens.

Tickets and season passes can be purchased online through the KC Renaissance Festival website. If registered, you can also bring your dog for $10.
