Betty Rae’s to Open New Location in Johnson County

KC Daily

Local favorite and award-winning Betty Rae’s Ice Cream will open a new location at 6936 W. 135th St. in Overland Park.

  • Sweets Down South: The sixth location will be the southernmost location in the metro, opening in the Shoppes of Deer Creek Woods. It joins the five other metro locations: Merriam (test kitchen), Prairie Village, Olathe, River Market, and Waldo. Betty Rae’s also has a mobile ice cream truck for events.

  • Freezing Flavors: Betty Rae’s has built a huge local following for its 26 core house-made flavors. They also offer rotating flavors and local collaborations, such as McLain’s Cinnamon Roll and Joe’s KC BBQ & Burnt Ends. The core flavors have been available in select local grocery stores since late 2023.

The new location has an anticipated opening date in May.

Rob’s Reuben is Back for March at Q39

Q39

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Q39 is bringing back Rob’s Reuben all month long to honor its founder, Rob Magee.

  • Lasting Legacy: Magee founded Q39 in 2014 and passed away from colorectal cancer in 2021 after a five-year battle. The Reuben was one of his favorite sandwiches, and each year during the month of March, his wife, Kelly Magee, brings it back to support the Rob Magee Memorial Fund for cancer research at the KU Cancer Center.

  • Gotta Get One: Rob’s Reuben is made with house-smoked corned beef brisket, thousand island dressing, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese on toasted Rye bread. Get a behind-the-scenes look at how Rob’s Reuben is made HERE.
