The Key: The Michelin Guide gives out Keys for hotels, similar to Stars for restaurants. Just 2,832 hotels worldwide earned Keys in 2026, with 1-Key, 2-Key, and 3-Key distinctions awarded. Crossroads Hotel was awarded one Key in 2024 and has maintained that distinction according to the recent release of the 2026 list.

Stay & Eat: The Crossroads Hotel boasts 131 guest rooms and an incredible industrial-chic design. You don’t have to leave the hotel property for great food & drink either. The hotel’s culinary offerings include Lazia, a modern Italian restaurant, Percheron, a rooftop cocktail bar with sweeping views of the KC skyline, and XR Café, its lobby bar and lounge.

Prost!: Saturday’s festivities include live music, flowing beer, stein-holding contests, Hammerschlagen, and the always-hilarious Wiener Dog Races. Now in its 10th year, Oktoberfest Live! has become a downtown KC fall tradition.

Party On: General admission is free and open to guests 21 and older. VIP packages include four 16-ounce domestic beers, a souvenir stein, discounted pretzels and brats at Shandy Bar, and 50% off tabs at Guy Fieri's Dive & Taco Joint from 8pm to midnight.

Somme to Shire: Test your knowledge of J.R.R. Tolkien's life and works — fitting, given Tolkien was a WWI veteran who served at the Battle of the Somme. Shire-inspired refreshments are included in your ticket, there's an optional costume contest, and prizes await the winners. Play solo or in teams of up to five. No phones allowed!

Ring Kings: Doors open at 6pm, with trivia starting at 6:30pm in the R.A. Long Learning Center. Entry is $25 per person, $15 for museum members. Two complimentary drinks and food included; a cash bar is available. Hosted in partnership with the Tolkien Society of Kansas City.

🎸 Sounds by Max: See singer/songwriter Max Gomez at the Midwest Trust Center Saturday, September 26. Growing up in New Mexico, Gomez was influenced by country blues early on and developed a songwriting style uniquely his own. Tickets start at $25.*

🎧 In Da (Soft) Club: The Museum of Kansas City is hosting Soft Clubbing at Elixir with DJ hunni bunni TONIGHT from 6-10pm. Can’t make it tonight? This free event returns on October 29th and November 19th!*

🏐 Olympians on the Sand: The 2nd Annual George Brett 4v4 Showdown is October 3rd at Shawnee Mission Beach Volleyball! 11 Olympians, two local qualifier teams, a live DJ, and a beer garden. GA Tickets are $30.*

🍴 My Kitchen’s on TV: Pleasant Hill’s Big Creek Cafe will be featured on an episode of Gordon Ramsey’s “Kitchen Nightmares”. Filming will take place between September 28th and October 2nd.

🏈 Big Red at Arrowhead: The Nebraska Cornhuskers return to Arrowhead for the second time in three seasons, opening the 2027 college football season against Miami (Ohio) on Friday, August 27th.
