A New Music-Themed Hotel is Coming to Downtown KC

Project 607
A new music-themed boutique hotel is being planned for downtown Kansas City.
Beats and Bedsheets: Kansas City-based developer VBRG is behind The Riff, a 22-room hotel planned for 301 Admiral Blvd. The hotel will feature a basement speakeasy, event space, and a listening lounge for live music.
YOU Love It!: Hotel owner Mark Denton has always been around music during his career, so he jumped on the opportunity to bring this quirky idea to Kansas City. The hotel plans to have different themes for each guest room, based on songs, genres, or bands.
The Riff has plans to be open in October of 2025.

Local Start-Up Tackles Affordable Homebuilding

Civic Saint
Local start-up Civic Saint is exploring ancient building techniques to tackle the modern problem of rising home prices.
Brick by Brick: Civic Saint Founder Godfrey Riddle is using personal experience to drive him to help others build wealth and own affordable and sustainable homes. Instead of using traditional building materials, their units use compressed earthen blocks (CEB’s) made of dirt, soil, and water.
Small, But Mighty: According to Zillow, the average home value in KCMO is $230,526. Civic Saint is looking to make a 400-square-foot unit for $50,000-60,000 or an 800-square-foot unit for $130,000.
