The Best Employers in Kansas City, According to Forbes

Forbes has released its 2026 lists of best large and midsize employers, and several Kansas City area companies were named.

  • Large and In Charge: Seven KC area employers were named among the Best Large Employers (5,000+ employees), with Garmin leading the way at No. 87. Other local employers named were The University of Kansas Health System (No. 120), Terracon (No. 286), Burns & McDonnell (No. 300), H&R Block (No. 377), Hallmark (No. 507), and AMC Entertainment (No. 698).

  • Mid, But Mighty: Ten KC area employers were named among the Best Midsize Employers (1,000-5,000 employees), with JE Dunn Construction leading at No. 37. Others include University Health, Kansas City (No. 135), Husch Blackwell (No. 152), HNTB (No. 161), Commerce Bancshares (No. 314), Helzberg Diamonds (No. 319), Associated Wholesale Grocers (No. 368), Netsmart (No. 395), Evergy (No. 458), and Garney Construction (No. 467).

Big 12 Basketball Returns to the T-Mobile Center Next Week

The Big 12 Conference

The 2026 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Tournaments return to the T-Mobile Center beginning next week.

  • Ladies First: The first round of the women’s tournament tips off on Wednesday, March 4th with the championship game scheduled for Sunday, March 8th (the game will be held on Monday, March 9th should BYU advance). The first round of the men’s tournament starts on Tuesday, March 10th, with daily hoops action through the championship game on Saturday, March 14th.

  • Bigger Than Basketball: Both tournaments will be played on an ASB GlassFloor LED court, which integrates LED technology beneath the playing surface to showcase dynamic, interactive digital graphics. This is the first time that the technology will be used for official competition in the United States. Also this year, Grammy Award-winning icon DJ Khaled will headline the Big 12 Basketball Tournament Afterparty inside KC Live! on Saturday, March 14th.

  • 📍Passport to Local: Kansas City G.I.F.T. is offering free physical passports to 30 different black-owned restaurants, art venues, coffee shops and more throughout KC. They can be picked up at the Kansas City G.I.F.T. office at 5008 Prospect Ave.
