Handel’s Ice Cream to Open Two Kansas City Metro Locations

Handel’s Ice Cream

If anything has been around for 80+ years, it has to be good. Handel’s Ice Cream is expanding into Kansas City with two metro locations.

  • Handel’s History: The Ohio-based ice cream shop opened its first location in 1945 by Alice Handel, and has since expanded to 150 locations across 15 states. The first KC metro location officially opens tomorrow (8/28) at 11885 W 95th St. near Oak Park Mall in Overland Park. A second location is in the works in Belton at 1014 East North Avenue.

  • Sweet Relief: Handel’s Ice Cream will offer 48 monthly rotating flavors (over 100 total in their collection), as well as sorbet, sherbets, and ices. While we haven’t been (yet), here are the three flavors we will try on our first visit: Deep Dish Apple Pie, Pumpkin Cheesecake Chunk, and Vanilla Caramel Brownie.

Bourbon in the Park Coming to English Landing Park September 27th

Holladay Distillery

Raise a glass to America’s native spirit at Bourbon in the Park, coming to English Landing Park in Parkville on Saturday, September 27.

  • Pours in the Park: Presented by Holladay Distillery and Rose Productions, the event highlights the Midwest’s deep ties to bourbon. Guests can sample pours from more than 45 premium brands, enjoy chef-crafted appetizers by Andrew Longres of Acre, and take home a Glencairn tasting glass.

  • Sip in Style: The event also features live blues by Good Foot, hand-rolled cigars, a bourbon-paired s’mores ice cream station, with a bourbon ice luge rounding out the evening. For those seeking more, an add-on experience called Sunset Seminar will feature rare Holladay bourbons and an in-depth look at the craft. Proceeds will support the Missouri Corn Growers Association.

Bourbon in the Park is happening from 4-7pm. Get your tickets HERE.

Pizza Tascio to Open Sixth Metro Location in the Northland

KC Daily

In the words of Michael Scott, “I’m gonna go get me a New York Slice!” The award-winning NY-style Pizza Tascio will open a new location in KC’s Northland.

  • Northland Slices: Pizza Tascio will open at Northwest Barry Road and North Stoddard Avenue near Zona Rosa. It will be the sixth metro location and seventh total (St. Joseph). Pizza Tascio currently operates one location north of the river, at 1111 Burlington St.

  • Dinner & Dessert: According to co-owner Eli Lombardino, the new location will feature Pizza Tascio’s “most updated look” and could feature gelato on the menu. The pizzeria has become one of Kansas City’s favorites for NY-style, offering pizza by the slice or whole pies.

Pizza Tascio expects an early December opening. Until then, order your next pie from the other metro locations HERE.
