Sporting KC Kicks Off 2026 MLS Season on Saturday
With the World Cup coming to Kansas City in June, 2026 is about to be the biggest year for the sport of soccer in Kansas City's history. Our “Soccer Era” year begins this Saturday, as Sporting KC kicks off the 2026 MLS season.
Bouncing Back: Sporting KC opens the season at San Jose at 9:30pm CST. The team looks to bounce back from a rough 2025 campaign, in which they finished last in the Western Conference with a 7-7-20 record. Saturday’s game is the earliest MLS opener in club history.
Out With the Old: There were a lot of changes made in the off-season, including the club naming Raphael Wicky as the new head coach in January. The Club also saw 13 player departures from the 2025 campaign, while signing nine new players to the 2026 roster. The stadium also changed names, from Children’s Mercy Park to Sporting Park.
SKC returns to Sporting Park for the home opener next weekend, February 28th, against Columbus. Get tickets.
