How They Ranked: WalletHub ranked 182 U.S. cities on affordability (30%) and on food diversity, accessibility, and quality (70%), using 28 weighted metrics. These include restaurant costs, grocery prices, restaurants per capita, and farmers’ markets. Each city's overall score is the weighted average of those metrics.

Top 100: Kansas City ranked No. 99 overall out of 182 cities, with an affordability ranking of #110 and a diversity, accessibility & quality ranking of #86. Overland Park was the only other KC metro city on the list, ranking No. 111 overall.

Giddy Up: The celebration pairs with the launch of the Joy Ride Fall 2026 Collection — a Western-inspired line featuring horseshoes, mother-of-pearl, pearls, sculptural silhouettes, and the statement Two-Step Bolo Tie. Shot at a KC-area ranch, the campaign places the collection against a backdrop of horses, barns, and meadows. Guests can shop the new collection while enjoying flash tattoos, palomas from Mean Mule, an embroidery bar, giveaways, and swag bags for the first 15 customers.

A Decade of Design: Founder Sierra Otto launched SWJ in 2016 from her home, and now is located at 6245 Brookside Blvd. Today, the brand is carried in 100+ stores nationwide and has been worn by Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, and Heidi Gardner.

Fall Family Fun: Guests can meet Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat, explore a Touch-A-Truck experience and Science City's mobile lab, and enjoy inflatables, carnival games, crafts, a petting zoo, pony rides, and more. There will also be local vendors and festive food & drink from Guy Fieri’s Dive & Taco Joint.

Downtown Neighbors: Presented in partnership with PNC Bank, the event is part of the national Be My Neighbor Day celebration, inspired by Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and its values of kindness, curiosity, and community.

🌽 Support Local Farmers: The Food Circle hosts Sips & Shares tonight at Transport Brewery in Shawnee from 4:30-6:30pm. The evening features local brews, a farm share from Rolling Prairie Farmers Alliance, and support for KC's food access nonprofit.

🏨 Check Into Lenexa: A dual-branded AC Hotel and Residence Inn by Marriott just opened in Lenexa's City Center at 8710 Penrose Lane, featuring 132 upscale rooms and 129 apartment-style suites with fully equipped kitchens and complimentary breakfast.

💰 Town Center Transformation: Federal Realty is seeking a Leawood community improvement district to fund a $59.8 million renovation of Town Center Plaza, which would add a new roof, lighting, parking lot resurfacing, and a new 7,000 sq ft commercial pad on the north side.
