Happy Monday, Kansas City! According to CNN, it’s a good time to live in the KC metro. Both Kansas City, Mo, and Overland Park were named to CNN’s list of the 20 best mid-size cities.

  • On The Up & Up: The list comes in part from data provided by the US Census Bureau showing the fastest-growing cities in the US. Both OP and KCMO were named to the list for their access to outdoor activities, sporting events, and art exhibits.

  • Kansas City: Kansas City made its way onto the list for its sporting events, world-class museums, and, of course, barbecue. They gave a particular shoutout to Chef J BBQ and Night Goat, the Sunday-only BBQ pop-up that shares space with Fox and Pearl.

  • Overland Park: Overland Park found its way onto the list for its growing and diversifying population, bike trails like Indian Creek, museums like Prairiefire, and sophistication found in places like Vintage ‘78.

Fountain City Comedy Fest

The Fountain City Comedy Fest returns again this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday across multiple venues.

  • Reason To Smile: The Fountain City Comedy Fest was started as a celebration of local comics in the Kansas City area. This year’s festival features over 20 shows with more than 60 national touring acts.

  • Venues All Over: One unique aspect of the festival is that the venue of each show changes many times throughout the night. You’ll have to check out the lineup to find the right show for you, but venues include Strange Days Brewing, Hillsiders in KCK, The RINO, and The Emerald KC.

  • Comedians You Know: Just because it isn’t NY or Chicago doesn’t mean you haven’t heard of the acts. This year’s headliners include Tom Thakkar, Aaron Branch, and Irene Tu, all comedians who have been featured on Netflix, Comedy Central, and HBO.

Tickets can still be purchased on the Fountain City Comedy Fest website here. The first show of the weekend will take place at 6 pm at the Casual Animal Brewing Co.

  • Presidential Address: Allan Swan, president of Panasonic Energy North America (PENA) will take the helm as the lead man in charge. He spoke recently about the plans for the new facility in an interview here.

  • Now Back To Business: Now that Panasonic has leadership in place, it can focus on its ever-expanding footprint in De Soto. The company announced recently it will expand further by adding a 500,000-square-foot industrial park in the area as well.
