Amazon Prime Air Launches Deliveries in Kansas City Metro
Look to the sky, your order is almost here! Amazon Prime Air officially launched drone deliveries in the Kansas City metro.
Delivery by Drone: The Prime Air delivery drones will deliver packages under 5 pounds and within a 7.5-mile radius of the Amazon fulfillment center in KCK (6925 Riverview Ave.) Drone deliveries will occur only during daylight hours, and only certain types of items will qualify.
To the Sky: This delivery option costs $4.99 for Prime members, or $9.99 for non-Prime members. Packages are placed in a compartment on the drone before takeoff and can be delivered expedited. Let’s just hope that there aren’t any crashes, like there was at this Texas apartment building.
Kansas City is the 7th U.S. city to implement Amazon Prime Air drone deliveries, joining Phoenix, Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, San Antonio, Tampa, and Detroit.

Development
A 33-Story High-Rise Planned Near the Kauffman Center
Developers have proposed a $207.9 million, 33-story high-rise just west of the Kauffman Center in the Crossroads.
Looking Up: According to the KCBJ, the team behind the project includes EPC Real Estate Group LLC, builder Dan Carr and VeLa Development Partners. The project, temporarily called “Encore,” would include 392 residential units, commercial space, and a parking garage.
Denny’s Dream: Encore would sit near 16th St. and Broadway Blvd, at the site of the former Denny’s, which closed in 2020. The site is just steps from the Kauffman Center to the east, and I-35 to the west. Future phases could hold a neighboring hotel and rooftop bar.
Pending approval, developers would break ground in late 2026 or early 2027 with an anticipated completion date in 2029.
