• ⛵️ Boats on Brush Creek: Brush Creek on the Plaza will come alive this Saturday from 10 am - 2:30 pm for the Kansas City International Dragon Boat Festival. The event is hosted by The Society For Friendship with China, Inc.

• 🎉 Party at the Ranch: Grab the family and head to Ranch Mart Shopping Center at 95th & Mission Road on Saturday for the Ranch Mart Extravaganza. This FREE event features bounce houses, a magic show, train rides, and so much more!

Celebrate National Bourbon Day with KC’s Best Bourbon 🥃

Today is National Bourbon Day! Believe it or not, you don’t have to travel all the way to Kentucky to experience great whiskey. There are plenty of heavy hitters in the bourbon game right here in Kansas City, and here are five of our favorites distilled right here at home:

• Rieger’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey Bottled in Bond - This double gold medal winner is distilled in one season at Kansas City’s original distillery, J. Rieger & Co. in the historic Electric Park District.

• Union Horse Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Lenexa’s Union Horse Distilling Co. has brought home hardware from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for multiple spirits, and their Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey was scored a 92/100 by Wine Enthusiast.

• West Bottoms Kansas City Whiskey - Although technically a blend of bourbon and rye whiskeys, this Kansas City Whiskey is blended with 2.5% Oloroso sherry to give it a unique profile and smooth, fruity finish.

• Tom’s Town Royal Gold Bourbon - Named after the infamous political boss and Kansas Citian Tom Pendergast, Royal Gold is finished in 14-year-old ruby port casks and is perfect for special occasions.

• Holladay Soft Red Winter Wheat Bourbon - Produced in Weston at Missouri’s oldest distillery, Holladay’s Soft Red Winter Wheat takes the traditional Holladay recipe and swaps wheat for rye, before being barreled in Missouri white oak barrels.

Kansas City to Host Three Base Camps for 2026 World Cup

Big news for soccer fans! The Kansas City area was selected to serve as the home base camp for three national teams during the FIFA 2026 World Cup.

• Not So Small Honor: In addition to being the smallest metro chosen to be a host city for the 2026 World Cup, Kansas City was one of the four U.S. cities to serve as a host AND base camp. It joins Dallas as the only two cities that will host three different national teams.

• Then There Were Three: There are three training sites paired with a hotel for each team. They are:

1. KC Current Training Facility + Hotel Kansas City - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

2. Sporting KC Training Center + Sheraton Overland Park Hotel at the Convention Center

3. University of Kansas + Stonehill Lawrence, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

Which team will be at each base camp is TBA. (Team USA, Please! 🇺🇸)
