The South Loop Project is One Step Closer to Reality
Thanks to a $31.4 million investment from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Kansas City’s South Loop Project remains on track.
South Loop Livin’: MoDOT's funding was approved on December 4th, matching the City of KCMO’s contribution of $31.4 million. This is the single largest investment through MoDOT’s Cost Share Program and keeps the project on track to begin in early 2025.
Transforming Downtown: The 5.5-acre park, which will cap I-670 on the south side of downtown, will feature lush gardens, inclusive play areas, entertainment venues, and space for pop-up markets and year-round programming. The space will connect the Crossroads Arts District to downtown, similar to Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, TX.
The South Loop Project is expected to cost $217.2 million in total. See a fly-through rendering of the completed project HERE.

Sunday Was a Memorable Day at Arrowhead Stadium
Sunday was a memorable day at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, and not just because the Chiefs locked up their back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back (that’s nine) AFC West Championship.
Electric Finish, Electric Ride: Travis Kelce showed up to the game driving a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle that teens at a local nonprofit had converted to an all-electric vehicle. The car is currently being raffled by Operation Breakthrough, with tickets going for $100 apiece.
I ❤️ Football: Also prior to Sunday night’s game, local couple Talia Pernice and Josh Lindquist got married on the Drum Deck. The couple got engaged right outside of the stadium before a preseason game against the Chicago Bears, so it was only fitting that they tied the knot where it all began.

Efforts Underway to Relight the KCTV Broadcast Tower
According to KCMO Mayor Quinton Lucas, efforts are underway to relight the KCTV Broadcast Tower.
Light the Tower: The 1,042-foot broadcast tower was built in 1955 and was the third-tallest freestanding structure in the world at the time (only trailed the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building in NYC). The tower served primarily as a transmission tower for KCMO/KCTV, but also served a variety of other purposes including acting as a weather beacon.
Eye-Full Tower: After nearly 20 years of darkness, recent tests lit the tower red, with Mayor Lucas stating the project would “bring back a piece of Kansas City history.” Over the next year, 60-80 lights will be replaced as the city works to relight the tower.
The KCTV Broadcast Tower can be found at 125 E. 31st St. in midtown Kansas City.
