New Country Club Plaza Owners Outline Future Plans

KC Daily

After finalizing the sale of the Country Club Plaza last Friday, new owners from HP Village Partners held a press conference yesterday to outline plans for the future of the district.

  • Return to Glory: Once tabbed the “Crown Jewel” of Kansas City, new owners Ray Washburne and Stephen Summers spoke yesterday alongside Mayor Quinton Lucas about their plans to revitalize the Plaza. Reports state that the group will invest over $100 million into the area.

  • First Up: Security. Washburne stated that immediate changes to the plaza will include an increase in cameras and security guards on the streets. Future plans also include bringing in more local shops and restaurants, restoring historic architecture, filling vacancies, increasing desirable working spaces, and much more.

Painted Rooster

Want in on a secret? One of Kansas City’s favorite breakfast spots has a catch: it’s only open one weekend a month!

  • Hidden Breakfast: The Painted Rooster can be found on the third floor of Bella Patina in Kansas City’s West Bottoms. The family-run restaurant is only open on First Friday weekends and takes some fun exploring to find (it is only accessible by stairs or the freight elevator).

  • Vintage Tastes: The restaurant serves up breakfast favorites such as burritos, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and monthly specials. They are also open for lunch, serving tacos, Cuban sandwiches, baked goods, and more!

Mark your calendars for July 5-7 when the Painted Rooster will be open next!
