The Art Of The Deal
Happy Wednesday, Kansas City! Jackson County has countered the Royals’ offer by proposing $300M in public financing without debt.
I’ll See Your Offer: After the Royals had asked for $1B to build a stadium in the East Village, the city countered with an offer that would pay the team $15M a year for 20 years, but wouldn’t finance the deal with bonds as it did in 2006.
Set Up For Future Success: The proposal challenges traditional financing models, emphasizing fiscal responsibility while safeguarding the county's future. Key details, including funding sources and impact on the Kansas City Chiefs, intensify discussions over this historic public-private partnership.
Times-a-Tickin’: The Royals face swift negotiations with both Jackson and Clay County, aiming for a fast-track timeline with a ballot question in April, underscoring the urgency of this ambitious stadium and district project.
The Royals had initially targeted September for an announcement, but the team has yet to set a new target. Until then, KC will continue to work with its advisers to strike a mutually beneficial deal.

Where’s The Beef?
A new Wagyu Meat Market, which maintains its farm in Manhattan, Kansas, is now open in Overland Park.
Nice To Meat You: In August, Booth Creek Wagyu opened its doors in the Deer Creek Shopping Center. In addition to Wagyu steaks, the store also carries Wagyu hot dogs, burger patties, ground beef, roasts, and snacks like summer sausage.
Beefy Hunks: For those unfamiliar, Wagyu beef is a beef type originally from Japan that specializes in incredibly well-marbled meat thanks to the higher density of intra-muscular fat cells.
Locally Sourced: Booth Creek Wagyu’s original location is just minutes from its ranch in central Kansas just outside of Manhattan.
Booth Creek Wagyu is located off 135th and Metcalf and is open Monday-Saturday from 10 am- 7 pm and Sunday until 5.
