The 2023 Favorites Are In

KC Daily
Each year, Kansas City Magazine releases its “Best of KC” list curated both by editors and readers alike. There are myriad awards across several categories, but we went ahead and selected some of our favorites for you. You can check out the full list here!
Best Pizza: Minksy’s Pizza has 17 locations that have long been a KC favorite for pizza, so we’re happy it’s getting the shine it deserves. Currently, they are offering a BBQ pizza collab with Joe’s Kansas City that’s unmatched.
Best Burger: It’s no surprise here that Town Topic won 2023’s best burger. With 3 locations in the metro, stop in and grab a burger and a shake.
Best Bookstore: Rainy Day Books is not only one of the coziest spots in KC, but it also happens to be the best bookstore. Stop in where the staff can help you find personalized recommendations.
Best Coffee Shop: Messenger Coffee (Crossroads) is our favorite place to bring out-of-towners for a weekend, and it was voted #1 by readers. We suggest trying their delicious baked goods and coffee and enjoying the rooftop on a sunny day.
Opening
Brunch Out, Tacos In.

Kansas City Pitch
Pinches Tacos, a new authentic Mexican restaurant, is opening in Westport in mid-September, replacing the longstanding Corner restaurant at the corner of 40th and Broadway.
Pinches: Pinches, an exclamation in Spanish, will serve Street tacos on five-inch tortillas — available with carne asada, pollo, chorizo, pastor, or campechanos (steak and chorizo combined) — will be $2.25-2.50 apiece. On Sundays, Pinches will serve brunch including chilaquiles, breakfast burritos, and more.
Dream Come True: Owner, John Nilges, says that it’s always been a dream to own his own restaurant. He brings in plenty of industry experience being the president of Great Western Dining Services, a college and university catering company.
Bye, Corner Restaurant: Pinches will take the place of the longstanding Corner restaurant. For years, keeping its name, The Corner tried several concepts over the years from a soda shop in the 50s to a brunch spot until 2020.
With hours of operation well into the morning(currently 1:30 am), Pinches at 4059 Broadway is planning to open in the coming months. Follow their Instagram to stay updated.

Today Is International Beer Day

KC Daily
Happy International Beer Day to those who celebrate! If you’re reading this and thinking about where you and your friends should grab a drink after work today, we went ahead and put together a guide to our favorites in KC.
BKS Artisan Ales: Brookside’s favorite brewery is a great spot right off 63rd Street that not only has a great IPA, but a phenomenal patio to soak up some rays.
Boulevard Brewing Co: Boulevard is KC’s largest brewery that offers tours of its historic brewery. Afterward, you can grab a flight(or two) and play some board games or shuffleboard.
City Barrel: Nestled in the middle of the Crossroads, City Barrel has one of our favorite beers, the RAD AF hazy IPA. Order one of their burgers and a Raspberry Lime Sherbet Sour for the summer night.
KC Bier Co: Waldo’s best beer garden right along the trolley trail, KC Bier Co offers the city’s best German beers. Sit out on the patio and enjoy a Dunkel with a Pretzel. You can thank us later.
Stockyards Brewing Co: Located in Kansas City’s West Bottoms, Stockyards Brewing Co was made for the unpretentious beer drinker who enjoys a historic view. Try their Irish Ale or Cerveza to cool off after a long day of work.
