A New Entertainment Venue Coming to Children’s Mercy Park
A new 90,000-square-foot entertainment venue is coming to Children’s Mercy Park in KCK.
Hometown Project: Kansas City-based sports architecture firm Populous will design the venue, the same firm that designed Children’s Mercy Park when it was built in 2010. This project will renovate 11 acres of the ticket entry areas and add a stage for entertainment and events.
Growing Gameday: The 90,000-square-foot outdoor plaza will be upgraded with the new stage, videoboard, lighting, entry gates, and a “Champions Walk,” with the ability to host up to 9,000 people for concerts, games, and events. Gamedays for Sporting KC just got a little more exciting!
Team officials expect to break ground in mid-September, with a planned opening date of May 2026.
