Finally, A Definitive Winner

The Pitch KC

Happy Monday, Kansas City! The Pitch KC, a local publication, has released its Best of KC 2023 award winners across multiple industries and categories. We’ve included some highlights you might find interesting!

  • Best ‘Za: The winner of Best Single Location Pizza went to Waldo Pizza. Famous for large pizzas and an even larger selection of toppings, Waldo Pizza never disappoints.

  • Lil’ Chill, Lil’ Nice: This year’s award for Best Restaurant went to Red Door Woodfired Grill. Gaining a reputation for great apps, good drinks, and a fun atmosphere, this could be the best first date spot in KC.

  • Take That Amazon: Rainy Day Books was named the winner of Best Bookstore. With a quaint little location in Westwood, the staff can help bring knowledge and charm to the book-buying process.

  • Quaint, Quiet, Quality: Brookside once again took home the Best Neighborhood this year. Whether you’re walking to Brookside Barrio, enjoying Arbor Villa Park, or simply stopping into the Roasterie it’s clear why this one was a winner.

Opening

Freshest Beer Hall In The City

Exact Architects

After nearly 2 years of setbacks, Brewer’s Corner, a beer hall sister to Brewer’s Kitchen, is opening on Martini Corner.

  • Setbacks, Setbacks: With plans to open late this year, Brewer’s Corner had been delayed by parking restrictions, permitting setbacks, and the city losing paperwork for securing a certificate of occupancy. Adding to the anticipation, INKansas City named Brewer’s Corner as one of the most anticipated restaurants and bars in 2023.

  • Can’t Get More Fresh: Sister concept, Brewer’s Kitchen, opened in 2019 and is a 100% scratch and local forward bar that features burgers with beef ground in-house daily. Brewer’s Corner will be a similar concept but on a larger scale with a 4,000-square-foot space.

  • Things Are Popping Off: Brewer’s Corner is the latest establishment to join Martini Corner. Recent additions include Cliff’s Taphouse, Barrio Taqueria, and Noka. To add to the momentum, news was released this year that El Torreon would also redevelop into the city’s newest music venue.

Brewer’s Corner is slated to open sometime before the end of the year thanks to recently securing its certificate of occupancy. Until then, you can check out Brewer’s Kitchen on Martini Corner Thursday through Sunday.

Opening

Third & Barrel

Burg & Barrel

Burg & Barrel, one of the best-kept secrets in Overland Park, will open its third location in Lenexa soon.

  • Word Of Mouth: Burg & Barrel first opened 10 years ago in an easy-to-miss location off 76th and Metcalf. Thanks to the sheer deliciousness of the burgers, word spread until it could open another location in Leawood and a food truck.

  • Not Your Grandma’s Burger: Burg & Barrel is a bar and grill concept that serves creative burgers such as the spicy avocado burger, Bleu Moon (bleu cheese and mushrooms), Spicy El Diablo burger (featuring jalapenos and reaper sauce).

  • New Spot, New Menu: The newest location is set to open in the same location where Gambino’s Pizza operated at 8725 Bourgade Avenue. The new location will offer an expanded menu with vegan and gluten-free options.

The grand opening of the newest location will be this Friday at 11 am. Burg & Barrel’s third operation will have the same hours as the flagship restaurant, Saturday through Sunday from 11-10.
