The Reigning World Cup Champions Have Arrived in Kansas City

@afaseleccion/Instagram

The Argentina National Football Team touched down at KCI Sunday morning, arriving nearly two weeks ahead of their first World Cup match.

  • “Kansas” Bound: Argentina posted photos of players boarding their flight from Buenos Aires to “Kansas”, even though the team arrived at KCI (in Missouri) and will stay in Missouri. Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi arrived later via private jet. The reigning World Cup champions arrived at a warm KC welcome of elated fans.

  • Stay & Play: Argentina will train at Sporting KC's Compass Minerals National Performance Center in KCK while staying at the Origin Hotel Kansas City in the Berkley Riverfront, which was transformed into a temporary home for the team. The arrival was well ahead of FIFA's requirement that teams arrive five days before their first match.

Argentina's opening game is June 16th against Algeria at Kansas City Stadium (Arrowhead). Tickets to that game start around $870.
