Kansas City Shows Out at The Oscars of Food

KC Daily

Ask any Kansas Citian and they'll tell you that KC has much more to offer the culinary world than just world class barbecue. With the release of this year's James Beard Award Finalists, often called the "Oscars of the food world", the secret may finally be out that you don't have to fly to New York to sample the country’s hottest new restaurants and bars. Check out the full list here and our hometown candidates below.

Yoli Tortillieria: Nominated for Outsanding Bakery, Yoli (pronounced yo-lee) comes from the Aztec word meaning "to live” and embraces the attitude "to live adventurously as seekers of quality, hand-crafted foods." Owners, Marissa and Mark, strive to create an authentic tortilla experience using the freshest ingredients.

Drastic Measures: Walk into Drastic Measures and you may find yourself wondering how you never heard of this trendy bar before. Nestled in Shawnee KS, is this year's nominee for Outstanding Bar, a hub for creative cocktails, colorful presentation, and an ambience that simply makes you feel cool because you discovered it before your friends.

You Gotta Fight For Your Right to Kelce Jam

Kelce Jam

It would appear that Travis Kelce is more than just good at podcasting and winning Super Bowls. With the announcement of Kelce Jam 2023, you can now add music festival curator to his resumé.

Kelce Jam, a music festival hosted by Travis himself, will showcase artists he hand selected including Migos, Black Pumas, and Machine Gun Kelly.

  • Events take place April 29th & 30th at Azura Amphitheater running from 6pm to 12am

  • Jam packed with bronze statues, 30 foot inflatables, Q39 and KC Joes

  • The best part, tickets start at just $50

If you needed any more inspiration to put this on your calendar, Donna Kelce will probably be there too. No word on if she’ll be wearing the special made Chiefs/Eagles jacket yet, but rumor has it she will have a cookie stand.
