Love From Yemen: Mocha Point is a family-owned and operated coffee shop based in St. Charles, MO. The original shop in St. Charles opened in 2023, and it now crossed the state line into Kansas this past week. Mocha Point brings the rich flavors of Yemeni Coffee, known for its intense, complex flavor profile.

Late Night Buzz: Contrary to most dedicated coffee shops, Mocha Point will remain open late: until 10pm Sun-Thurs, and until 11pm Fri-Sat. The menu will feature drinks like a Pistachio Latte, Adeni Chai, Turkish Coffee, seasonal drinks, baked goods, and more.

Very Important Shoppers: The VIP program allows you to choose from one of the following perks each month: a featured item curated by their team, a $35 credit toward any in-store purchase, a T-shirt from any local brand, or 3 pairs of socks from School of Sock. You’ll also receive two free drinks each month at their cafes and bars (like Front Range and Outta the Blue) as well as other exclusive perks.

Local Love: Made in KC was founded in 2015 as a 300-square-foot pop-up with just 14 vendors. They’ve since expanded to three marketplaces and eight neighborhood shops throughout the metro, offering a huge selection of locally-made goods from hundreds of makers.

Pay Heed, Algeria: The North African nation will train at the 2,500-seat soccer stadium inside Rock Chalk Park. Algeria is currently ranked No. 28 in the world in the latest FIFA men’s rankings and will play Argentina at Kansas City Stadium on June 16th.

Four’s Company: Algeria is now the fourth team that will call the KC region home this summer, joining Argentina, England, and the Netherlands. Some nations are yet to announce base camp locations, but as of now, no other North American city has four or more teams setting up base camps.

💡 Get Lit: KCMO Mayor Quinton Lucas told KMBC 9 that the iconic Western Auto Sign in the Crossroads will be lit once again prior to the World Cup in June. The sign has been out of service since July 2025 due to maintenance issues.

🎧 All We Do Is Win: The Big 12 Conference announced that global icon DJ Khaled will headline the Big 12 Basketball Tournament Afterparty at KC Live! in the Power & Light District on Saturday, March 14.

🐊 Gator Bites: Bayou Box, the Lone Jack-based Cajun restaurant, officially opened its new location at 8940 Wornall Rd in Waldo.

🚙 Open to Traffic: The 69Express lanes along U.S. 69 officially opened this weekend in Overland Park. The $500 million project added one express toll lane in each direction, along with two all-purpose lanes.
