Opening
Made in KC x Rainy Day Books Opens in the Power & Light District
Made in KC has opened a new flagship location inside the Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City.
Local Goods, Local Reads: The shop doubles as a second location for Rainy Day Books, which still operates at its original location in Fairway. In addition to shelves of good reads, the shop offers locally-made goods, a full café, and plenty of seating spread across two levels. It also hopes to operate a full bar serving in the near future.
One Stop Shop: We stopped by this weekend for a look inside. The shop is still in a soft-opening phase, so expect new inventory and final touches until the grand opening. (date TBD)
Made in KC x Rainy Day Books is located at 161 E. 14th St., and is open 7 days a week.

Development
More Details About the Royals’ New Ballpark at Crown Center
Last week, the Royals revealed the first renderings of their new Crown Center ballpark, built to carry the best of the K into a more intimate downtown setting.
Fit for a Crown: The open-air park will seat about 34,000, making it one of the most intimate experiences in Major League Baseball. It’ll be tucked into the existing limestone bluff, with a limestone entrance framed by metal and terracotta. A fabric canopy overhead will shade about 65% of the seats during late-afternoon games.
Fountains Up!: The crown, the fountains, the Little K, and CrownVision are all making the move. Two 360-degree concourses will connect a right-field entertainment building and a left-field Royals headquarters, opening up views of Union Station and Liberty Memorial. The park was designed by KC-based Populous, the firm behind Kauffman Stadium’s renovations.
