Dolly Parton Visits Kansas City to Celebrate Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

American Music Icon Dolly Parton visited Kansas City this past week to celebrate the expansion of her Imagination Library in Missouri.

  • 9-5 Reading: Dolly joined Missouri Governor Mike Parson on stage at the Folly Theater this past Tuesday. Missouri became the 14th state to commit to a statewide program, which has gifted over 200 million books to children since launching 29 years ago. Kansas joined the program last year.

  • Free Books: Each month, the Imagination Library mails a high-quality book to all registered children with the help of local affiliates/partners. In fact, 1 in 7 children under the age of five in the U.S. receives Imagination Library books!

National WWI Museum and Memorial

The National WWI Museum and Memorial will refresh three exhibits this fall to enhance the guest experience in one of Kansas City’s most notable attractions.

  1. Renault FT-17 Tank: Wall removal and repositioning of the tank will now make it visiable from all sides.

  2. Battlescape: An original film will soon be projected onto the walls of the recreated artillery crater.

  3. Casualties: A large section of the museum will be recreated into an actual impromptu field hospital from WWI.

Check out this article from In Kansas City for more details on the three projects.
