Amazon Considering Kansas City for Drone Delivery

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to the KC Star that the company is considering launching drone delivery in Kansas City.

• Delivery Flyer: Amazon launched Prime Air in 2022, but is only live in two smaller U.S. cities: College Station, Texas, and Tolleson, Arizona. Amazon would use a drone called an MK30 (pictured above), which could fulfill same-day deliveries directly from Kansas City’s same-day delivery center at the corner of Botts Road and 149th St.

• Living in the Future: Thanks to recent FAA approval, drones can now fly “Beyond Visual Line of Sight” (BVLOS) making package deliveries by drone a real possibility. Other reports state that Amazon is also considering launching this service in San Antonio, TX in addition to KC.

A New 3-in-1 Culinary Concept Coming to Power & Light

A new culinary concept is coming to the Power and Light District that will bring three family-owned brands under one space. Here’s what brothers and restauranteurs Dennis and Adam Alazzeh have planned:

• Jerusalem Café: A beloved Kansas City staple serving authentic Mediterranean classics for over 35 years, marking its legacy as a local favorite.

• Chick-In Waffle: A craveable chicken concept renowned for its signature waffles, bold sauces and vibrant energy.

• Virgin Rebel: The newest creation, a rebellious mocktail bar that is redefining nightlife with zero alcohol and maximum attitude, tapping into the growing sober-curiosity movement.

The space at 131 E. 14th St. is being designed by Clockwork Architecture + Design. Expect a late August or early September opening.

The Golden Scoop Announces Partnership with Q39

Everyone loves BBQ. Everyone loves ice cream. Now two of our local favorites are collaborating together for a sweet partnership!

• Here’s the Scoop: The Golden Scoop announced its ice cream would be served at Q39 as a part of their new menu, as well as a one-of-a-kind collaboration this July for National Ice Cream Month. Since 2018, The Golden Scoop has been hiring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• Sweet & Savory: Q39 recently released it’s new menu from new Executive Chef Patrick Peluso. In addition to new savory bbq creations, the menu includes four new dessert items: Key Lime “Pie”, a S’mores Sundae, Banana Cream Parfait, and a Salted Caramel Cookie and Dark Brownie Sampler.
