Boulevardia Announces 2024 Lineup

Boulevardia

The ninth-annual Boulevardia Festival is on the calendar for June 14th and 15th, and organizers have released the music lineup for this year’s event.

  • The Best of the Fest: This year’s lineup will consist of nearly 70 national and local artists performing over the two-day festival. Headliners for this year are Milky Chance, Thundercat, Paul Cauthen, and Hanson.

  • More Than Music: In addition to over 60 local artists performing on stage, the Taps and Tastes will feature local food and drink vendors. Also featured is a Maker’s Market, a homegrown marketplace showcasing local goods.

Local Bookstore Honored on the TODAY Show

Rainy Day Books

Rainy Day Books, Kansas City’s Independent Bookstore, was named a top 5 indie bookstore to visit by Read with Jenna on the TODAY Show.

  • In the News: Read with Jenna is the TODAY Show’s book club, hosted by Jenna Bush Hager. Each month she picks a book to read together and discuss, and to celebrate five years of the book club, she shared her five indie bookstore recommendations which included Fairway’s Rainy Day Books!

  • A Space to Create: Since 1975, Rainy Day Books has served as one of Kansas City readers’ favorite independently-owned bookstores. With an ever-rotating, carefully curated selection of books, no two visits to the store will be the same. Rainy Day also offers book clubs of their own for local bookworms.

Rainy Day Books is located at 2706 W 53rd St. in Fairway and is open 7 days a week.

Big Slick Tickets On Sale This Week

Big Slick

Tickets for the Big Slick, one of Kansas City’s favorite annual fundraisers, are on sale this Friday.

  • KC Meets Hollywood: This year the Big Slick turns 15 and is welcoming the familiar faces of Kansas City celebrities Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, and many more. Since the inception of the event in 2010, every dollar raised from the event benefits Children’s Mercy.

  • The Weekend: The Big Slick will take place May 30th-June 1st, and will host a weekend full of activities. VIP experiences are set for Thursday, the celebrity softball game at Kauffman Stadium on Friday, and the Big Slick Party and Show at the T-Mobile Center on Saturday evening.

KC Metro Population is Surging

According to a recent release by the United States Census Bureau, the KC metro saw the largest population growth in both Missouri and Kansas.

  • Two States, One City: With more than 12,500 residents added in the year that ended on July 1st, 2023, the KC metro saw a bigger increase than all other metropolitan statistical areas in Kansas and Missouri combined. With an estimated population of 2,221,343 in 2023, the KC MSA remains the 31st-largest in the U.S.

  • That Other City: Kansas Citians know that there has always been an unwritten rivalry between KC and St. Louis. Although the St. Louis MSA still leads KC (2,796,999 in 2023), it saw a 0.12% decline in population this past year. Sorry about the Rams…
