Bar Phoebe Opens on the Rooftop of the Historic Holtman Building

Bar Phoebe, a “modern bar with a vintage feel”, has opened its doors on the roof of the historic Holtman Building in the East Crossroads.
Midwest Vibes: Bar Phoebe sits on the third floor of the Holtman Building, an adaptive reuse project from Molzer Development. The indoor-outdoor rooftop space is built around the nostalgia of Midwestern summers: cherry red accents, checkered floors, jukeboxes, live music, and mid-century fixtures, all with sweeping views of the East Crossroads and KC skyline.
A Toast to Now: Bar Phoebe held its soft opening this past weekend and reopens tomorrow, Wednesday (6/25). The menu features classic Midwestern fare: Walking Tacos, Ranch Wings, BBQ Spare Rib Sandwich, a Hot Dog Bar, and more — alongside signature cocktails, beer, wine, and shots. Regular operating hours are coming soon.

Kickoff KC Returns This Week With Four Days of Pre-Match Tailgates!

Hen House Market is hosting another week of Kickoff KC pre-match tailgate celebrations with four days of family-friendly activities at two locations.
Tailgate Time: Each tailgate features complimentary tastings of globally inspired match-day bites and sips, official tournament merchandise, face painting, local vendor pop-ups, prizes & giveaways all day, and a photo op with the Golden Cluck: Hen House's very own championship trophy.
This Week Only: Kickoff KC is happening at Hen House Overland Park (11930 College Blvd) on Wednesday and Thursday, and then at Hen House Deer Creek Marketplace (6900 W. 135th) on Friday and Saturday. Each tailgate kicks off at 4pm.

The Great Lenexa BBQ Battle Returns This Weekend
Great Lenexa BBQ Battle
Hold onto your (pork) butts! The Great Lenexa BBQ Battle returns to Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park in Lenexa this Friday and Saturday, June 26-27.
Friday Night Fun: Gates open at 4:30pm with face painters, balloon artists, bounce houses, and GaGa Ball to keep the kids busy from 4:30 to 9pm. For the first time this year, free BBQ samples will be offered starting at 5:30pm from Barbwire Barbecue, Booth Creek Wagyu, Slaps BBQ, The Rub, and Everfast Fiber Networks. The M80s play live from 6:30 to 10:30pm, and the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will also be on-site all evening.
Competition Day: Since 1984, the event has served as Kansas’ State Championship, growing from 12 competing teams to 150-200 teams. Teams compete across seven categories, including brisket, pork ribs, chicken, sausage, and beef steak, with the awards ceremony at 5pm.
