It’s a packed fall weekend in Kansas City! Here’s our weekend roundup to help you find your plan:

  • 🇲🇽 Dia de los Muertos: Explore the history and cultural traditions of Mexico at the 11th annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration at the Kansas City Museum. Festivities begin at 5 pm on Saturday evening.*

  • 🌳 The Woods at Night: Powell Gardens and Quixotic present the first weekend of Dark Forest, an immersive and multimedia walk-through experience in the woods.

  • 🏃 26 Miles in 24 Hours: The Garmin Kansas City Marathon is tomorrow! It will start at 7 a.m. from Frank A. Theis Park and weave through some of the coolest neighborhoods in Kansas City.

  • 🪐 Cosplay Kingdom: Planet Anime takes over the Kansas City Convention Center all weekend long with celebrity guests, panels, cosplay contests, esports, and more!

  • 🎡 Downtown Fall: Cornucopia: Kansas City’s Ultimate Fall Festival kicks off today and lasts through Sunday in downtown KCMO! The event takes over Grand Boulevard, Walnut Street, and 14th Street.

  • 🩰 Experience Wonderland: The Kansas City Ballet presents the final weekend of ALICE (in wonderland) at the Muriel Kauffman Theatre at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

  • 🏐 If You Can Dodge a Wrench: You can dodge a ball! The 2024 USA Dodgeball National Championships take place all weekend long at Hy-Vee Arena. Friday features a cloth ball competition, Saturday is foam ball, and Sunday is no-sting.

  • 👻 Kon Tiki Boo! Kon Tiki Room presents gRAVEyard again this weekend, a Halloween pop-up bar featuring DJ lights, lasers, house music, and two cocktails included with your ticket!

  • 🎤 How to Save a Life: American rock band The Fray is live in concert tonight at 8 pm at The Truman in downtown KCMO.

  • 🎻 Star on Stage: Tony Award-winning Kristin Chenoweth joins the Kansas City Symphony on the Kauffman Center stage this evening at 8. Chenoweth has starred in Wicked, Glee, You’re a Good Man, and more.

  • 🚜 Farm After Dark: Night of the Living Farm kicks off this weekend at the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead in Overland Park. Tickets are $15, and there will be endless family-friendly events throughout the farm all evening long!

World’s First Museum of BBQ To Open in Kansas City

The world’s first Museum of BBQ will open in the spring of 2025 at Crown Center in Kansas City.

  • Smoke Show: As the self-proclaimed “BBQ capital of the world”, it’s only appropriate that Kansas City becomes home to a museum dedicated to our city’s famed cuisine. Other American styles of barbecue will also be highlighted, including the Carolinas, Memphis, and Texas.

  • Feast for the Senses: Guests will get to follow two storytelling trails through 4,000+ square feet of interactive exhibits. The museum will also feature an oversized crock of “barbecued beans” and a gift shop featuring sauces, rubs, and merchandise.

The Museum of BBQ will be located at 2450 Grand Boulevard, Suite 231.
