⛲️ Music on the Move

Music on the Move: First launched during the COVID pandemic in 2020, the Mobile Music Box set a goal to perform in every zip code in the KC metro. They’ve now held concerts in over 60% of them, reaching nearly 80,000 people across 263 unique locations and 96 zip codes. Pets, kids, and lawn chairs all welcome at these free performances!

Open the Box: There are 13 more shows scheduled this fall, but here are the next three: Today, Sept. 15th, at English Landing Park in Parkville, Sunday, Sept. 20th, at AdventHealth Lenexa City Center, and Tuesday, Sept. 22nd, at Union Cemetery in KCMO. All performances are weather permitting.

For the Farmers: Sips & Shares free to attend, but you’ll want to RSVP! When you do, you’ll have the opportunity to reserve a $40 one-time farm share from Rolling Prairie Farmers Alliance. Your share of local produce will be conveniently ready for pickup at the event and you’ll take it all home in your exclusive members-only canvas tote!

Harvest Season: All RSVPs will be entered to win a free Harvest Box! AKA more delicious local produce courtesy of The Kansas City Food Hub. They’ll share more about their Harvest Box program and how you can get local farm shares to the workplace. 

Eat Local, Support Local: Over the past 17 years, KCRW has raised more than $4.5 million for local causes. This year, 10% of menu sales will go to three local charities, including the featured beneficiary, Pete's Garden. Pete’s Garden is a KC nonprofit that recovers chef-prepared surplus food from stadiums, hospitals, and event venues and redistributes it as free take-home family meals through 20+ local agencies.

New This Year: KC Restaurant Week has launched a redesigned website with an interactive map, personalized favorites lists, and new filtering by cuisine, neighborhood, and menu offerings. Multi-course menus at participating restaurants are priced at $20, $40, $50, and $65

🤝 Dinner Conversation→Stronger Community: UMKC’s Institute for Human Development is hosting Great Conversations, an evening of food, drinks, and meaningful dialogue on September 18th. Mix and mingle, then choose a dinner topic that interests you, connect with other guests, and explore issues that impact all of us.*

🏗️ Royal Builders: The Royals selected Mortenson/McCownGordon and JE Dunn to build the $3 billion Crown Center Ballpark District — a 34,000-seat open-air stadium anchoring 85 acres, the largest sports-anchored downtown development in baseball history.

🚧 Champ Moves On: Le Champion, the Westport coffee shop opened by Amante Domingo (The Russell, Noka) in 2025, is closing due to nearby construction.

🍳 Diner Days: A family-owned diner called Main St. Diner will open this fall at 208 N. Main St. in Independence. Expect all-day breakfast, and a walk-up window.

☕️ Coffee, For Two: Turath Coffee, which opened in Overland Park this spring, announced it will open another location in Lee’s Summit.
