Delicious Reads: The Inked Page officially opens its doors this Saturday, August 22nd, at 7942 Santa Fe Dr. It is owned by longtime friends and fellow book lovers Courtney Moffitt and Katie Jones, who took over the former home of Ink & Page Books, which closed earlier this year. The space has been painted a moody red and decorated with (somewhat eerie) antiques and vintage furniture.

Spooky Shelves: The Inked Page offers shelves filled with mystery and thriller books on one side, and horror, dark romance, and science fiction on the other side. In the back, a “Parlor” space can be reserved for events and book clubs. They will kick off an in-house book club in September, starting with “The Unknown” by Riley Sager.

Treasure Hunt: Scenes inspired by ancient shipwrecks, buried treasure sites, expedition camps, and overgrown jungle landscapes fill the 1-mile illuminated route, with sculptures handcrafted by 150+ artisans using 34 tons of steel and nearly 89,000 feet of silk-like fabric. Fall-themed lanterns and activities run from September 11 through October 31, and Santa and holiday lanterns take over November 1 through December 27.

Get On Board: General admission is $18 with early bird pricing through this Monday, August 24th. Season passes are $36 for kids and $38 for adults, and they pay for themselves in two visits! The Sobela Ocean Aquarium is open on Wednesday evenings with GloWild admission.

Art Around Town: You may not know it, but you’ve probably seen Katie’s work throughout Kansas City. Her color-filled murals can be found at local restaurants, businesses, community spaces, and more. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if we had to, it would be her mural at Jack Stack Freight House in the Crossroads.

Here’s the Mail: September’s Mail Club drop will feature an exclusive 5×7 print from Katie, a scavenger hunt exploring her work around town, a letter from her, and more. Mail Club subscriptions start at just $12, with proceeds going to KC Daily and our local artist partners. (like Katie!)

🍷 Wild About Wine: The KC Zoo's Wine Walk for Wildlife returns Friday, August 28th, with 40 wines, 14 food trucks, live music, and chats with conservation leaders. VIP adds exclusive aquarium access, a dinner buffet, and more!*

🥺 Peace Out, Parlor: After 8 years, Parlor announced it will close in the Crossroads. The food hall’s last day will be this Saturday, August 22nd, with daily happy hour pricing ($5 draft beers and $7 draft cocktails) through closing.

🍺 Local Sips: Boulevard's Taps & Tastes has announced its beverage lineup for the October 17th event at Current Landing. Unlimited pours from 22 KC-area breweries and distilleries, including J. Rieger, KC Bier Co., Holladay Distillery, Stockyards, and more!

💡 It’s Lit: After a year of being dark, the Western Auto sign illuminated the KC skyline once again on Tuesday night. See the moment it happened!
