New Renderings Depict Taller Country Club Plaza

The Gillon Property Group

The owners of the Country Club Plaza unveiled ambitious plans for a $1.3 billion reinvestment in the historic shopping district.

  • New Heights: The latest rendering (pictured above) shows the Plaza as viewed from atop the already-approved 275-foot-tall building planned for the three-acre western edge lot where Nordstrom was once planned. The rendering also shows multiple 150-200-foot buildings that don’t currently exist.

  • Plaza 2.0: Gillon Property Group's 15-year plan includes approximately 1.7 million square feet of commercial and retail redevelopment, 750 new residential units, and 278 hotel rooms. The Dallas-based group aims to add significant density to the once-thriving “Crown Jewel” of Kansas City.

Overland Park Opens Portfolio Homes Program

City of Overland Park

Overland Park is launching a new Portfolio Homes program to make building high-quality, smaller-scale homes easier and more affordable.

  • Simple Building: The program gives residents free access to a catalog of pre-reviewed plans for things like single-family homes, cottages, and duplexes. All are designed to blend seamlessly into existing neighborhoods. Remind anyone of the old Sears Kit Home Catalogs?

  • Fast & Easy: To get started, applicants choose a plan, submit the required worksheets and plot plan, then apply for a permit. Because the designs are already vetted by the city’s building safety team, permit review is faster, and the city even waives building permit fees.

Explore all the plans that are a part of this new program HERE.
