Another Big Redevelopment Could be Coming to the West Bottoms

The Borman Group

LA-based developer, The Borman Group, is pursuing the Starchworks project in the West Bottoms, a redevelopment of eight mostly vacant buildings.

  • Bottoms Booming: The eight buildings are located near Eighth and Madison, and would feature a distillery, a brewery, restaurants, and event space. The initial phase of the project would be $15.8 million, and would focus on the Faultless Starch Co. building at 1025 W. Eighth St.

  • Silo Stays: This redevelopment project could look like The Borman Group’s Boyle Heights project in Los Angeles. Renderings (seen above) show the existing Faultless Starch silo staying in place and being a focal point of the new development.

If Port KC approves financing this month, construction could start this year with completion in 2028.
