The Team Behind The Antler Room to Open a New Concept in the Crossroads

Nick and Leslie Goellner/The Antler Room

The team behind the award-winning The Antler Room is opening a new Japanese izakaya in the Crossroads.

  • What Izakaya?: Nick and Leslie Goellner will open Anjin, a 20-seat Japanese izakaya (neighborhood bar). The spouses and business partners were inspired to open this type of concept after multiple trips to Japan, as well as Nick’s family ties to Japan during WWII.

  • In The Neighborhood: Anjin was named one of the most anticipated bars and restaurants coming in 2025 by In Kansas City Magazine and will feature a small menu featuring made-in-house noodles and Japanese sandos. Drew Little, the bar manager at Antler Room, will lead the bar program, which will feature sake, soju, Japanese beer, and cocktails.

Anjin will be located at 1708 Oak St. and plans a spring opening.

Have You Been Lost in the Glass Labyrinth?

KC Daily

Since its opening in 2014, The Glass Labyrinth at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has welcomed five million guests into its winding, transparent halls.

  • Interactive Art: The Glass Labyrinth by Kansas City-born artist Robert Morris is found on the South Lawn of the Nelson-Atkins in the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. The interactive glass “maze” is built with glass, steel, bronze, and stone, and welcomes guests to get lost while exploring the beauty of Morris’ work.

  • Lost & Found: Chandler Rawson recently wrote a piece on the Glass Labyrinth for The Pitch, highlighting the inspiration, history, and impact of the sculpture. Fun fact: the structure took over 100 individuals over a year to construct!

The Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park is free to visit and open from sunrise to sundown.
