A Coffee Shop With a Unique Mission Opening Soon in South KCMO
Local nonprofit coffee company Neighbors Coffee + Hospitality is opening a new shop in the Marlborough neighborhood of KCMO.
For the Kids: Neighbors has been roasting and shipping coffee since 2022 and has a unique mission: help children who are aging out of the foster care system. The new shop will offer apprenticeships to those young adults, preparing them for the workforce.
Home Roast: Neighbors will open the retail shop at 8135 Paseo Blvd. In addition to selling their roasted coffee offerings, the shop will serve coffee/non-coffee drinks, locally baked pastries, merchandise, and locally-made ceramic mugs.

Missouri’s Hands-Free Law Now in Effect
KC Daily
Missouri’s new hands-free driving law officially went into effect on New Year’s Day.
Phones Down, Eyes Up: Drivers in the state of Missouri will no longer be able to hold or support their cell phones with any part of their bodies. Drivers will be able to place their phones in a cup holder or mount. The law technically went into effect in August of 2023, but there was a grace period in which officers offered warnings.
New Laws: Officers must pull drivers over for a different reason, but a violation of this new law will result in a minimum of a $150 fine. In addition to the hands-free driving law going into effect, Missouri’s minimum wage increased to $13.75 starting on New Year’s Day.
Read the official wording of the new law HERE.
