Kata Nori & Moon Bar Collaborating On a New Year’s Pop-Up

The countdown is on! Kata Nori Hand Roll Bar and Moon Bar are teaming up to offer an exclusive New Year’s pop-up event.

• Roll Up: Since opening in September 2023, Kata Nori Hand Roll Bar has made a splash in the local dining scene by offering a first-of-its-kind dining experience in Kansas City. The intimate space in the Crossroads will host an exclusive New Year’s pop-up with the Asian-inspired cocktail pop-up Moon Bar.

• New Year, New Tastes: The event will feature a small plate menu curated by Chef Bass at Kata Nori and specialty cocktail pairings from Moon Bar. One featured cocktail will be the Hot Earl Grey, served warm and made with Lifted Spirits’ Rye Madeira, milk foam, and rosebud powder.

Lenexa-based Golf Startup Secures Funding

Lenexa-based golf technology startup Albatross Golf Inc. recently closed a $675,000 seed round.

• Growing Golf: Albatross Golf secured the $675,000 investment from a group of local and out-of-state investors, which will be used on their two flagship offerings. GolfTRK, an indoor golf simulator using Trackman technology, and Noonan, a digital caddie app.

• Tour or Bust: GolfTRK first launched in 2023 in Lenexa (11207 Strang Line Road) and will soon open a second location in the Bluhawk development in Overland Park. The concept is geared toward serious golfers looking to improve their game, with members gaining access to Noonan to integrate the experience at GolfTRK into real-life courses.

Toni’s Italian Restaurant Now Open in Shawnee

Olathe-based Toni’s Italian Restaurant has opened a second location in Shawnee at 22716 Midland Drive.

• Toni’s Time: Toni’s welcomed its first guest on December 3rd and is now open six days a week (closed Mondays). The restaurant took over the space that formerly housed Flapjacks n’ More in the Shawnee Crossings shopping center.

• Taste of Italy: The menu features homemade Italian classics, including handmade pasta and pizza, Chicken Parmigiana, Shrimp Scampi, Italian subs, fresh-baked bread, and more. Toni’s also offers daily lunch specials and a full bar.

• 🚧 That Pink Building: Following multiple recent fires, “A Splash of Life” at 44th and Troost is being demolished. The building was known for its pink color and was often used to store food and clothing for those in need.

• ❄️ Let It Snow: The city of Olathe is getting festive with its snowplows. The city has named one of its plows “Daniel Plowloi” in honor of Sporting KC star Daniel Salloi.

• 🇮🇪 Luck of the Irish: Irish Pub Conroy’s Public House has officially opened its doors at its newest location in Overland Park. It took over the former Aspens Restaurant and Lounge building at 6995 W. 151st St.
