NHL Eyes Expansion in KC
Populous
It would appear that Kansas City is poised to continue its run as a legitimate sports haven, as the NHL has begun scouting Kansas City to be a potential landing spot for one of their teams looking to relocate.
Kansas City on Ice: The Arizona Coyotes are reportedly considering options for relocation, and Kansas City is among the cities in the mix. If the Coyotes make the move, it would mark the return of professional hockey to our city after the departure of the Kansas City Scouts in 1976.
Mahomes š¤ Mayor Lucas: Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Mayor Quinton Lucas are championing the idea of bringing the NHL to our thriving sports community. Both have expressed their support, even pitching the idea of the team being named the "KC Coyotes."
A Win-Win Opportunity: The potential arrival of an NHL franchise would not only bring thrilling hockey action to Kansas City but also have a positive impact on the local economy. The addition of a team could generate jobs, boost tourism, and provide an additional source of pride for our community.

Roos Seek New Home

Speaking of expansion for KC sports teams, the UMKC Roos recently began looking at building a new stadium for housing their sports a little closer to campus, instead of the Municipal Auditorium downtown.
A New Home for the Roos: The University of Missouri-Kansas City is exploring the possibility of building a new on-campus arena near the extension of the KC Streetcar line at 51st and Brookside Boulevard. The intention would be to offer the basketball and volleyball programs a dedicated and modern venue closer to home.
Blending Campus and Community: The proposed arena would not only serve as a home for the Roos' athletic programs but also as a venue for concerts, events, and other community activities.
A Jump for The Roos & City: The construction of a new arena near the KC Streetcar extension would have a positive impact on both UMKC and the surrounding area. Hopes are that it would boost not only athletic recruiting but also the local economy around it.

Foodies Rejoice: After opening just off the corner of 31st and Gilham last month, KC food lovers cannot get enough of Nokaās signature dishes like the A5 Ribeye Cap and the Miso Greens. It isnāt hard to see why Noka was one of 2023ās most anticipated restaurants.
Japanese Gets an Upgrade: Evoking the history and culture of a traditional Japanese farmhouse, this style restaurant pairs the Japanese cuisine you love with a modern twist. The aesthetic of the restaurant is also impressing guests, with concrete communal tables, wall-to-wall displays of stone pots, monogrammed leather table settings, and more.
