🤔 Tuesday Trivia: KC’s oldest bridge

Opening

The Rock Island Bridge Opens to the Public April 1st

Rock Island Bridge

The Rock Island Bridge will officially open its doors on April 1st, transforming the historic 1905 railroad bridge into the world's first multi-purpose entertainment destination on a bridge over a river.

  • Down By the River: The 35,000 sq. ft. space will feature River House Restaurant and Bar, an enclosed table-service concept described as "Midwest Lakehouse x Coastal Smokehouse," alongside Rock Island Eats, a walk-up window serving comfort food and drinks anywhere on the bridge. The top deck will house American Royal Hall, a 350-person event space with the Royal Bar, perfect for weddings, concerts, and corporate events. The West Truss will host community events like farmers' markets and makers' fairs.

  • Two States, One Bridge: The bridge also serves as a public crossing connecting both sides of the new Kansas River Levee Trails, with trailhead services on the emerging Greenline around downtown KCMO. A programming lineup including singer-songwriters, local history lectures, regattas, antique car shows, and art fairs is already in the works.

Cleo Club is the Crossroads' Sleek New Cocktail Bar

Cleo Club

Cleo Club, a dimly lit cocktail bar from the team behind The Rockhill Grille, The Wise Guy, and Crossroads Cantina, has quietly opened at 2000 Grand Blvd. in the Crossroads.

  • While You Wait: The bar was designed as a place for guests waiting for a table at one of the group's three nearby restaurants to grab a drink and settle in. The menu sticks to recognizable classics: Mai Tai, jungle bird, paloma, espresso martini, white Russian — all priced at $13, dropping to $9 during happy hour from 5 to 6pm daily.

  • The Vibe: Inside, plush booths, velvet curtains, orange and green tones, and leopard print accents fill the cozy, dimly lit space. The name is a nod to Cleopatra, one of history's most famous large cat namesakes.

Cleo Club is located at 2000 Grand Blvd and is mostly walk-in with a few reserved spots. It’s open Wed-Thurs 5-11pm and Fri-Sat 5pm to midnight.
