Six Food & Drink Concepts Coming Soon to Kansas City
There’s a long list of cool concepts coming soon to Kansas City, and we’ve got six that should be on your radar:
1587 Prime: The upscale steakhouse that needs no introduction with names like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce behind it opens next month inside Loews Kansas City Hotel.
1500 Baltimore Ave | Opening September 17th
Janssen’s House Coffee: A farmers market pop-up turned brick-and-mortar coffee shop that will be one of the only shops in the country that grows their own beans at their family farm in Colombia.
4041 Broadway Blvd | Opening fall 2025
Arrow Dart Club: The team behind local concepts like Cosmo Burger, Goat & Rabbit, and Dodson’s will open a dart club in the Crossroads featuring food & drink, a wine bar, and sports on big-screen TVs.
1817 Locust St. | Opening fall 2025
American Fire: An American dining concept from W. VinZant Restaurants, replacing the former Houlihan’s. (pictured above)
2820 W. 53rd St. | Opening TBD
Car No. 551: a grab-and-go deli and event space will move into the historic River Market Trolley, the former home of Donutology.
426 Delaware St. | Opening TBD
Pitchside Coffee: Six Kansas City Current players launched Pitchside Coffee as a mobile coffee trailer in 2024, and will now open a brick-and-mortar in the Crossroads.

Celebrate Charlie Parker’s 105th Birthday at the American Jazz Museum
The American Jazz Museum is celebrating the life and legacy of hometown jazz icon Charlie “Bird” Parker with a day of events this Friday, August 29th.
Bird Lives: The yearly birthday celebration invites everyone to come together to celebrate Charlie "The Bird" Parker's amazing influence on jazz and his lasting impact on Kansas City and beyond. The celebration will feature live music, storytelling, tributes to his history, and fun jazz activities all day, ending with an exciting saxophone performance in The Blue Room.
Jazz Icon: Parker was born on August 29, 1920, in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended first and second grade at Douglass Elementary School in Kansas City, Kansas, prior to the family moving to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended Lincoln High School. The jazz icon passed away on March 12th, 1955, and this Friday would have been his 105th birthday.

📍Lee-Something: After rumors swirled about the location of Travis Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift on Tuesday, it has been confirmed that it was at Kelce’s house in Leawood, not Lee’s Summit.
🛬 Californ-ya Later: Last week, it was revealed that Southwest Airlines will end nonstop service between Kansas City and Sacramento. Now the airline will end nonstop service to two more California cities: Burbank and Oakland.
