The 25th Annual Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner is August 15th at The American
The 25th Annual Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner returns to The American on August 15th — a one-night-only five-course dinner with wine pairings celebrating the legacy of the James Beard Foundation.
What’s for Dinner: Five acclaimed KC-area chefs are each contributing to the five-course menu: Chef Swetha Newcomb (Of Course), Chef Andrew Longres (Acre), Chef Romain Monnoyeur (Westport Café), Chef Guroux Khalifah (District Biskuits), and Pastry Chef Giovanna Henrique (The American). Each course will be paired with wine.
A Milestone Evening: The Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner has been one of Kansas City's premier culinary events for 25 years, honoring the legacy of America's first great food champion and the local chefs who carry that spirit forward. Expect food, storytelling, and genuine KC hospitality.
Tickets are $199, and cover all food, drink, and self-parking/valet.

Tiki Taco opened its sixth location Tuesday at 9711 N. Ash Ave. near Liberty — the popular KC taco chain's first-ever restaurant north of the river.
Midwest Cal-Mex Tiki Taco's Cal-Mex menu features fresh, made-to-order tacos, bowls, burritos, and more. The brand has been on a serious roll lately, earning a spot on the 2026 Fast Casual Top 100 Movers & Shakers list, alongside chains like Chipotle and Dave’s Hot Chicken. The new Northland location is the first of two planned north-of-the-river openings, with a second location coming later this year at Metro North
Coming Soon: The new Northland location is the first of two planned north-of-the-river openings, with a second location coming later this year at Metro North (8480 N. Jefferson St.). It joins two locations in KCMO, downtown Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee, and another coming soon in the Crossroads.
