The Oranje Fanwalk and The Iconic Orange Bus Roll Through Downtown TODAY!

Oranje Fanwalk

The Oranje Fanwalk takes over downtown Kansas City today, ahead of the Netherlands' final group match against Tunisia at 6pm — and it's free and open to all!

  • The Dutch Are Coming!: Dutch fans (and anyone who wants to join the orange party) will gather at the Power & Light District starting at 9:30am, and the walk begins at 11:15am. The iconic bus, which sailed across the Atlantic and drove from Texas to KC, leads the orange procession through downtown toward the FIFA Fan Festival for one final energy boost before the match.

  • Orange Everywhere: The Oranje Fanwalk invaded the streets of Houston before the Netherlands’ matchup with Sweden last Saturday. Expect the same energy in Kansas City, along with live music and entertainment. And if you really want to get into the orange spirit, grab a pack of Easy Orange from Boulevard.

Flight Bookings Up, Hotel Rates Down in Kansas City

KC Daily

According to the Sojern World Cup Index, flight bookings in Kansas City are up, while Hotel ADR (average daily rate) is down.

  • Taking Flight: According to the index, flight bookings are up 5.2% YoY. The only World Cup host cities with a higher rate than Kansas City are New York, Miami, Boston, Dallas, and Houston. The top three feeder countries into KC this year are Canada, Argentina, and Mexico.

  • Where Are You Staying?: Hotel rates, on the other hand, are down 1.0% from last year. A likely culprit is FIFA canceling ~75% of reserved rooms on peak days months before the tournament.

Kansas City will host one more Group Stage match this Saturday, followed by a Round of 32 match on July 3rd and a Quarterfinal match on July 11th. Expect more visitors!

Arvest Bank's Million Meals Campaign Raises $38,229 for Harvesters

Arvest Bank

Arvest Bank's 16th annual Million Meals campaign wrapped up with a record-breaking $633,513 raised across its four-state footprint.

  • Food For All: $38,229 from this year’s Million Meals went directly to Harvesters—The Community Food Network here in Kansas City. The campaign ran from April through May, specifically to support food banks during the summer months when school is out, and many children lose access to free or reduced-price lunch programs.

  • The Bigger Picture: Since 2011, the Million Meals initiative has raised more than $5.7 million and provided over 31 million meals across Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri. Harvesters serves a 27-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas, providing food assistance to as many as 226,000 people each month through 600 nonprofit agencies.

This year alone, Million Meals provided more than 3.16 million meals to families and individuals! Learn more HERE.
