Our Favorite Meals of 2023

KC Daily

Happy Tuesday, Kansas City! We dined at restaurants all over the city this year and looked back at some of our favorite stops. Some are new, some have been around, and some made a comeback. Here are some of the best meals we ate this year in no particular order:

  • Bacaro Primo: This little gem opened in Brookside earlier this year and we enjoyed every bite. Get the Pizza, Mezze Maniche, and a Negroni for the perfect evening.

  • The Town Company: Inside the beautiful Hotel Kansas City lives one of our favorite menus in KC. The Town Company took a brief hiatus earlier this year and boy did we miss their hot buns and carrot dip!

  • Meddy’s: Meddy’s newest location opened in the heart of Brookside offers the same delicious lamb bowls and salmon salads with a beautiful view of the Brookside corner.

  • Noka: Perhaps our favorite restaurant of the year, this Japanese Farmhouse restaurant will take your taste buds for a ride with its hand-rolled sushi and hoisin-glaze Beggars Chicken.

  • Of Course.: Overland Park’s hottest new restaurant is Of Course. Mix Asian influence with culinary classics and you’ll get things like Hariyali Short Rib or Scallops and Risotto with an Indian twist.

  • Baramee Thai Bistro: One of our favorite places to go for a low-key date night is always Baramee. The Panang Curry, Pad Ka Prao, and Tom Kha Soup are as delicious as they come.

P.S. We’re only human so we can’t make it everywhere. What spots do we need to try in 2024?

Transportation

Waldo Was Stuck In Traffic

KC Daily

The intersection of 75th and Wornall has long lived in infamy for locals who have to pass through regularly. Soon, the city will start a project to redo the intersection completely.

  • New Intersection, Who Dis?: Earlier this month, the city approved an ordinance that would fund the $13.9 Million needed to completely change the intersection, making it more green, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing.

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm: The ordinance includes plans to add new concrete, curbs, storm drains, street lights, sidewalks, traffic signals, streetscapes, water main, and Green Infrastructure for stormwater retention.

  • Phasing Out: Phase one of the plan will begin in 2024 to renovate the area north of the intersection. Phase 2, which will be south of the intersection will be completed in 2025.

The new project will be taxpayer-funded by those in KCMO. Maps and details on the project can be found here.
