Five of Our Favorite Parks Across Kansas City

KC Daily

With summer still in full swing and the crisp air of fall just around the corner, it’s a great time for afternoon park hangs. Here are five of our favorites thorughout the metro:

We think of this as KC’s version of Central Park in NYC. A 75-acre oasis in the heart of KCMO, known for its expansive green spaces, tranquil pond, walking/running loop, and the stunning Laura Conyers Smith Rose Garden.

📍5200 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO

Meadowbrook Park features multiple destination playgrounds for all ages, three ponds, 3+ miles of paved trails, a 10,000 sqft clubhouse, picnic shelters, pickleball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, and the striking "Gateway" sunflower sculpture.

📍9109 Nall Ave. Prairie Village, KS

Kansas City’s largest public park at 1,805 acres, Swope Park is a sprawling urban oasis featuring woodlands, hiking trails, two golf courses, the Kansas City Zoo, Starlight Theatre, Lakeside Nature Center, soccer fields, a treetop adventure park, picnic and fishing areas, and more.

📍3999 Swope Pkwy. Kansas City, MO

At 1,655 acres Shawnee Mission Park is one of the largest public parks in the state of Kansas. It’s centered around a 120-acre lake with a swimming beach and marina, and offers nature and mountain bike trails, a huge off-leaseh dog park, disc golf courses, equestrian trails, an archery range, and the renowned Theatre in the Park.

📍7900 Renner Road, Shawnee, KS

This 50-acre park in Lenexa offers paved walking and jogging trails meandering around Rose’s Pond, a skatepark (Rolling Magic), disc golf, sports courts, playgrounds, rentable shelters, and the historic Legler Barn Museum.

📍Lackman Road and W. 87th St. Pkwy. Lenexa, KS

Don’t just take our word for it, let us know your favorite parks that we’ve missed! 👇

Opening

Crocs, HeyDude to Open in Legends Outlets in KCK

Legends Outlets Kansas City

Let me see your one-two step. The Legends Outlets announced that two footwear stores will open soon: Crocs and HeyDude.

  • Sup Dude?: HeyDude will open in suite C-113 this Friday, August 15th. Originally founded in Italy (who knew), the brand known for its stylish, versatile slip-ons and everyday footwear.

  • Croc-y, Mate: Opening just next door (suite C-115) on September 5th is Crocs, the iconic brand known for slip-on footwear made of Croslite material. Fun fact: Crocs has sold over 350 million pairs of shoes since its inception in 2022. (and we know you’ve owned a pair at some point)

The Legends Outlets is home to 75+ stores and is located at 1843 Village West Pkwy in KCK.

Food & Drink

Eat This: The G Steak from King G

KC Daily

We all love a good restaurant recommendation. And even better when there is a specific order recommendation. Makes it easy.

So here’s a recommendation for you this week: The G Steak at King G. We stopped by for a quick lunch in the Crossroads, and walked out having one of the best sandwiches in town. Shaved steak, sauteed peppers & onions, melted provolone, fresh-baked roll.

Have you eaten something recently that’s worth sharing? Share it with us, and we’ll feature it in an upcoming newsletter. 👇

King G is located at 500 E 18th St. in the Crossroads.
