A New Restaurant from Chef Jonathan Justus Coming to Downtown Parkville
Chef Jonathan Justus will open a restaurant called The Parker Hollow in downtown Parkville later this fall.
Parkville Provisions: Jonathan Justus is somewhat of a culinary legend in Kansas City, with a history of running restaurants such as Justus Drugstore, Black Dirt, and currently operating Gizmoās Tavern in Smithville. The James Beard-nominated Chef will now open The Parker Hollow at 100 Main St. in downtown Parkville, replacing the former Frankās Italian Restaurant which closed in January.
Seafood, Eat Food: The Parker Hollow will have focus on serving sustainable West Coast-style seafood with a raw bar with Oysters from Hog Island Oyster Co. The space will be intimate, with the main dining room seating roughly 20 guests, with patio and balcony seating up to 45.
Justus targets a September opening. Learn more from Startland News HERE.

Community
The city of Kansas City has a plan to fill empty storefronts prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup using the Small Business Storefront Vacancy Revitalization program.
Moving In: On Tuesday, the City Councilās Finance, Governance and Public Safety Committee passed a resolution to put aside $1.4 million for the program. The city would cover the leases, occasionally up to $25,000 per year, of small businesses looking for a brick-and-mortar.
Filling Holes: The recipients of this program can use the free-or-reduced leases for short-term or pop-up leases (3-6 months), long-term leases (>1 year), artists residencies, public art installations, or outdoor pop-ups.
