Char Bar to Open a Third Location in Downtown Olathe
Local BBQ favorite Char Bar will open a third metro location in downtown Olathe later this year.
Fire Means BBQ: Char Bar will take over the current Fire Station 1 building at 200 W Santa Fe St. in downtown Olathe. The development, led by Sunflower Development Group, will renovate the current 4,000-square-foot building and add an additional 22,000+ sqft.
Three’s Company: The location will be Char Bar’s third and largest at 26,000 square feet. The original location opened in Westport in 2014, and the second (and the first with pickleball) in Parkville in 2023. The Olathe location will feature six indoor pickleball courts, outdoor dining, and yard games.
Char Bar Olathe is expected to open in late 2025. Learn more from the KCBJ HERE.

We Asked, You Answered: How We’re Improving KC Daily
Last week, we asked you to take a brief survey to help us improve KC Daily. We read every single response (it took awhile) to compile five takeaways from some of the most common responses from our readers. Here they are:
The Length is Just Right - 92% of respondents said the newsletter length is just right, so we’re not touching it. 2-3 minute read every morning, in and out.
Local Content, Local Partners - 81% said they prefer our advertising partners to be local businesses, events, and organizations. This is our preference, so we’re glad you agree!
Expand the Map - Multiple respondents asked for expanded coverage of the entire metro, specifically in the Northland.
Golden Era - More content for retirees/grandparents. Think: outdoor activities, parks, mid-week events, etc.
No Paywall Links - Quite a few responses about links to articles with paywalls. We do what we can, but if we get content from a source that requires a subscription (KC Star, KCBJ, etc.), we want to give credit where it’s due.
Thank you for those that took the survey! We want KC Daily to be the best part of your weekday morning, and won’t stop until we are. 🙌
