Martin City Brewing Company To Open Location in the South Plaza Neighborhood

Martin City Brewing Company

Martin City Brewing Company will open its sixth metro location later this spring in the South Plaza neighborhood.

  • Pizza Out, Pizza In: The new concept will be called Martin City Tavern and will replace the former Spin! Pizza at 4950 Main, which closed earlier this year. In addition to the other six restaurants, Martin City also operates Station 7 Tavern in Lee’s Summit, Love, Coffee in Lee’s Summit, and Pizza & Drafts inside CPKC Stadium.

  • Beyond the Bar: Martin City Tavern will feature an expanded menu beyond pizza. The full-service kitchen will serve burgers, sandwiches, and other elevated pub fare. Of course, Martin City’s award-winning craft beers will also be on draft!

Martin City Tavern is scheduled to open by Memorial Day (5/26).

Explore Astronomical Sciences at Mapping the Heavens at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

Where are we? When are we? How these questions drove the development of astronomical sciences is explored in the free exhibition Mapping the Heavens: Art, Astronomy, and Exchange between the Islamic Lands and Europe, on view at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

  • Stellar Exploration: The works presented in this exhibition introduce the advancement of astronomy as a multi-cultural and multi-faith dialogue between Islamic and European scholars and scientists in the Early Middle Ages.

  • To the Stars: Featured works include an original edition of Nicolaus Copernicus’ revolutionary text De revolutionibus orbium coelestium and a 13th-century astrolabe from Seville, Spain. Additionally, guests can learn how to operate an astrolabe through an interactive display, calculating the hours of the day through remarkable analog technology.

Mapping the Heavens is on view in gallery 203 through Jan. 11, 2026.
