Café Equinox to Open New Location in Overland Park
Café Equinox will open a permanent café inside Family Tree Nursery in Overland Park this spring.
Green Plants, Black Coffee: Café Equinox has operated as a temporary café inside the greenhouse at 8424 Farley St., but starting in mid-March will operate from 9-4 Monday through Saturday. It joins permanent Café Equinox locations inside Family Tree Nursery’s Shawnee and Liberty locations.
Caffeine and Chlorophyll: The menu at Café Equinox serves drip coffee and espresso-based drinks using coffee from Thou Mayest, surrounded by lush greenery year-round. Renderings show a warm and inviting coffee bar with seating inside the permanent space.

Five New Places to Eat In 2026
A new year means new places to eat across Kansas City, and here are five that we are keeping a close eye on:
Dear Donna - A new corner restaurant from Helen Jo and Johnny Leach of The Town Co. will open at 549 Gillis St. in Columbus Park. Opening early 2026.
Hemma Hemma Dinette - The Waldo favorite is expanding downtown with a diner-style cafe inside the Lightwell Building at 1100 Main St. Opening early 2026.
Gram & Dun Argosy Casino - The longtime Plaza favorite will open a second location inside the Argosy Casino at 777 NW Casino Pkwy in Riverside. Opening in January.
Italian Sausage Co. - The Northland deli will open a new spot in the River Market (518 Grand Blvd) offering sandwiches, breakfast, and an espresso bar. Opening in February.
Vertice Italian - A new Italian concept from Summit Hospitality Group will open on the Plaza at 616 Ward Parkway. Opening sometime in 2026.
