A New Neighborhood Food Hall is Opening on the Plaza
A new neighborhood food hall is slated to open next week inside the Cascade Hotel on the Country Club Plaza.
Gather ‘Round the Hall: Plaza Provisions will open its doors on Monday, August 25th, replacing the former Strang Chef Collective, which closed its doors in late 2024. The new concept aims to be a “modern food hall and community hub” that offers table service and elevated hospitality.
Local Love: The food hall will open with five local tenants: J. Rieger & Co., Lula Southern Cookhouse, Hawg Jaw Que & Brew, and Guy’s Deli & Pizza. Plaza Provisions will offer two bars (one is branded as J. Rieger & Co.), event rentals, and a Laza Brunch Club on Sundays which will launch in September.
Plaza Provisions is located at 4620 Wornall Road. The restaurant tenants will be open from 7am-10pm Mon-Sat, and 7am-9pm on Sundays.

A 115-year-old church turned luxury event & wedding venue has now opened a four-room boutique hotel in Westport.
Rehabbing History: Melrose Abbey opened in 2023 after a complete overhaul of the historic Broadway Baptist Church at 3931 Washington St. Phase one included converting the chapel into the ceremony space as well as the basement into a reception space & bar.The second phase of the renovation converted the old church offices and spare rooms into four meticulously-designed hotel suites with luxury finishes.
Westport Weekends: The hotel suites are available to book as a package with a wedding, or separately as long as no wedding is on-site. The suites will be available for rent via Airbnb (follow along for updates on this), or you can schedule a tour to see the space yourself.
We were able to get a sneak peek at the grand opening event this past weekend. Check it out!
