Powell Gardens

It’s the last weekend before Christmas, so let’s make it a good one! Here are some things going on around the metro this weekend:

  • 💡 Light Walk: Take one last pre-Christmas walk through the Evergy Festival of Lights at Powell Gardens! The festival is open through December 4th but closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

  • 🎄 Hallmark Village: It’s the final weekend of The Hallmark Christmas Experience at Crown Center. The experience is open 10-10 on Friday and Saturday and 10-6 on Sunday.

  • 🎤 Sexy Back: Multi-platinum artist Justin Timberlake is performing at the T-Mobile Center on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm.

  • 🚗 Drive-Thru: Hop in the car and head to the Northland’s Winter Magic: Holiday Light Experience. The drive-thru holiday light experience is open seven days a week through January 5th.

  • 🩰 Christmas Classic: Don’t miss the final weekend of The Nutcracker at the Kansas City Ballet. There are six shows this weekend with the final show scheduled for 1 pm on Christmas Eve.

  • 🏈 It’s Gameday!: KC Live! at the Power and Light District is hosting Game Day Experience for the Chiefs vs. Texans on Saturday starting at 10 am. Yes, the game is on Saturday!

  • 🎩 Get Scrooged: It’s the final weekend of Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big KCMO Christmas Show at the Unicorn Theater.

  • 🎵 Christmas Carol: The Kansas City Repertory Theatre is hosting multiple showings of A Christmas Carol at The Spencer Theater.

  • 🍻 Cheers to Beers: Boulevard is hosting its holiday pop-up Rec Deck the Halls this weekend, featuring festive decor, drinks, and a Claymation movie marathon!

  • 🚌 Wheels on the Bus: Heartland Trailways is offering FREE Community Christmas Lights Tours this weekend. The step-on/step-off tours depart at 6:30 each night from two local Walmart locations.

If anything calls for a champagne celebration, it’s this! Blanc Champagne Bar in Kansas City was named among the Best Champagne Bars in the U.S. by Wine Enthusiast.

  • Pop the Cork: Wine Enthusiast named ten champagne bars from across the country to the list, with only two from the Midwest (the other was Pops for Champagne in Chicago, IL). Blanc Champagne Bar was named for its chic design, small plates, and extensive menu of over 100 sparkling wines.

  • Brand New Bubbly: Blanc recently opened in the fall of 2024 at 3835 Main St. in midtown KCMO. Owner Jordin Johnson created a space to showcase the versatility of Champagne and sparkling wines from across the globe. The bar also boasts a rooftop patio with sweeping views of Kansas City, brunch, and other community events.

Chiefs to Release a Christmas Claymation Original Short Film

It’s about to be a Red Christmas in the Red Kingdom! The Chiefs are set to release “A Kingdom Christmas Story: Hail Merry”.

  • Heading West: The Chiefs YouTube Channel and Chiefs social channels will release the claymation film on Christmas Eve (12/24) at 6 pm prior to the team’s Christmas day game against the Steelers. The 90-second short film will feature animated Chiefs players like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Isiah Pacheco, and coach Andy Reid.

  • Believe in Christmas: Chiefs Chief Media and Marketing Officer Lara Krug stated, “The Claymation style elicits a nostalgic feeling, and we think many people will be able to relate to some of the family scenes that are featured in the short.”
