Local Rent Prices Are on the Rise

We know Kansas City is a great place to live, and apparently so does everyone else. A recent report published by rent.com showed that rent prices are rising much faster than the rest of the country.
The State of the City: The state of Missouri saw the highest increase in rent prices of any state in the country with a YoY % change of 13.18%. The other side of State Line wasn’t much better, with Kansas ranking 7th with an 8.74% YoY increase.
The City in the States: The Kansas City metro in particular also saw a sharp rise in rent prices. KCMO ranked 7th of all metros with an increase of 7.42% YoY. Bringing the income needed to afford rent in KC up to $65,760/year.

New Coffee Shop Takes Over a Familiar Space

Pilgrim Coffeehouse
A Seattle-based coffee roaster has taken over a space in Beacon Hill that was recently vacated by another coffee shop, Vested.
From the West to the Midwest: Pilgrim Coffeehouse is a roaster, coffee truck, and coffee shop that has been based out of Seattle since 2021. The expansion to Kansas City kicked off just a few weeks ago when they opened their shop in the lobby of 2501 Beacon Hill
The End is Just the Beginning: KC coffee lovers will quickly recognize the spot based on the glowing airstream that centers the space. Vested Coffee (RIP) occupied the space up until its abrupt closing in December. Pilgrim Coffeehouse will serve up delicious drinks such as their Cereal Milk Latte as well as fresh-baked pastries from Blackhole Bakery.
Visit Pilgrim Coffeehouse at 2501 Troost Ave. Mon-Sat 6 am-1 pm.

Local Artist Headlines New Art Center at 18th and Vine

The Patrons
Local artist Bryce Holt is hosting a solo show entitled “The Bible in Art” at the brand-new Zhou B Art Center in the 18th and Vine area.
The Holy Hustle: Holt completed the incredible feat of finishing 66 different paintings for the 66 books of the Bible in just 11 months. The current exhibition has 27 paintings representing the 27 New Testament books on display.
A New Home for Art: The exhibition is housed in the recently redeveloped Zhou B Art Center. The center is a product of the $27M renovation of the Crispus Attucks School and is affiliated with the world-renowned artist and brothers Shanzuo Zhoushi and Dahuang Zhoushi.
The exhibit is free, but reservations are required to view The Bible in Art.
