An Urban Bouldering Park Opens on the Berkley Riverfront
A new park featuring a 38,000-pound climbing boulder officially opened last week at the Berkley Riverfront.
This Park Rocks: Riverfront Boulder @ Berkley celebrated its ribbon-cutting on November 20th with officials from JE Dunn Construction and Port KC. The 12-foot granite boulder surrounded by a soft recessed pit gives bouldering enthusiasts a natural surface to climb in an urban environment.
Climb On: The park is the newest addition to the rapidly expanding Berkley Riverfront, joining CPKC Stadium, The Origin Hotel Kansas City, a future KC Streetcar stop, and a slew of other planned developments. Riverfront Boulder @ Berkley is just east of the sand volleyball courts on Riverfront Drive.
Future additions by January 2025 include an app-supported climbing route and a rope bridge. See the moment the 18-ton boulder was lowered into place HERE.
