Green Dirt Farm Wins Multiple Awards at the American Cheese Society Competition

Say Cheese! Weston-based Green Dirt Farm took home multiple awards last Friday at this year’s American Cheese Society Competition in Buffalo, NY. Here’s the cheese:

• Dirt Lover: First place in American Originals, reflecting our local terroir.

• Fresh Rosemary: First place in flavored cheeses, a burst of herbal delight.

• Woolly Rind: Second place in soft-ripened cheeses, known for its creamery texture.

• Feta: Third place in the Feta category, perfectly tangy and creamy.

Meddys in Lenexa Opens Today!

Wichita-based fast-casual Mediterranean eatery Meddys is celebrating the grand opening of its newest location in Lenexa TODAY!

• Ready for Meddy: Since launching in 2014, Meddys has been serving fresh and healthy Mediterranean food across multiple Wichita and Kansas City locations. The Lenexa location is located at 8810 Mauer Road and is the third KC metro location.

• Mediterranean Diet:The menu consists of hummus bowls/plates, falafels, Shawarmas, Baklava, and much more. The delicious meals, excellent service, and fun atmosphere already have them planning a fourth metro location in Liberty!

Meddys opens at 10:30 am and stays open until 10 pm.

A Skateboard Shop & Live Music Venue is Coming to Westport

Sk8bar, a skateboard shop + bar + live music venue is coming soon to 209 Westport Road.

• Sk8er Boi: After closing up shop in St. Joseph at the end of 2023, owners Brandon and Jesse Rock are moving their concept south to Westport in Kansas City. Sk8bar is taking over the former Arizona Trading Co. space.

• Be a Punk: A skateboard shop by day, and a live music venue and rock bar by night, Sk8bar is bringing skate culture to KC. What is skate culture? Glad you asked.

The Rocks hope to open Sk8bar in August.

A Coffee Shop is Returning to the Central Library in Downtown KCMO

After closing during the pandemic, The Nook is opening on August 7th inside the Central Library in downtown Kansas City.

• Caffeinated Readers: The Nook will collaborate with The Prospect KC culinary students, who will stock the shop with pastries, sandwiches, and salads. Drinks and coolers will be crafted by Messenger Coffee Co.

• Yes, Chef!: The Prospect KC offers students a 16-week culinary training program, and The Nook joins The Spot, which can be found at 2010 Vine St.

The Central Library can be found at 14 West 10th St. and The Nook is expected to be open from 9 am - 2 pm Monday through Friday.
