The Yard Milkshake Bar

The Yard Milkshake Bar is coming to the Power and Light District in downtown KCMO early next year.

  • Shake It: The Alabama-based franchise opened its first location in 2017 before being featured on NBC’s Shark Tank in 2019. It now boasts over 30 locations nationwide and will open its first KC metro location at 1350 Walnut St. in early 2025.

  • Sweet Creations: The menu will feature a huge variety of mouthwatering creations made with Blue Bell ice cream. Try favorites such as Cookie Dough Delicious and The Cereal Killer, or a Kansas City-themed shake called Red Kingdom.

KCK Mexican Restaurant Named Top 25 in the USA

GG’s Barbacoa Café

GG’s Barbacoa Café in Kansas City, Kansas, was named among the best Mexican food spots in the country according to Yelp.

  • Top Tacos: The list featured 25 of the best Mexican restaurants across the country according to a variety of factors through Yelp user reviews. GG’s Barbacoa Café came in at #14, and was the only spot in the state of Kansas to make the list. Malinche Mexican Culinary Experience near St. Louis was the lone spot in the state of Missouri.

  • Birria, Baby: GG’s stands out in the Mexican-cuisine hotspot of KCK with their birria tacos and chilaquiles. The café is found at 1032 Minnesota Ave, and is open Monday-Saturday from 7:30 am through 5 pm. Yes, they serve breakfast!

City of Westwood Seeking Community Input for New Park

City of Westwood

The city of Westwood and a design team from PORT will host a community input station for a new park during this Saturday’s Oktoberfest.

  • New Park: The new 3.86-acre park along Rainbow Blvd will replace the former Westwood View Elementary School. The proposed park gained city council approval in the fall of 2023, and they are now asking community members to hear feedback on what they want to see in the new space.

  • Cheers to Westwood: In addition to the feedback station, Oktoberfest will offer fun activities for the whole family. Residents can enjoy an inflatable moonwalk, a pumpkin decorating station, food and drink, and entertainment by One Blue Light.

Westwood Oktoberfest takes place this Saturday (10/5) from 4-8 pm at Joe D. Dennis Park.
